We make it as easy as 1, 2, 3

  1. Collect your food scraps

It’s EASY! Line your kitchen bin with one of our facility-approved BPI certified compostable bags - can be easily ordered in your customer portal and delivered to you on your next pick-up day! And then simply put your food waste into your kitchen bin - banana peels, coffee grounds, egg shells, apple cores, plate scraps, old fruit and veggies - see the full list of what’s compostable here. Then, tie up the bag, and throw it into your compost bin - just like you would with trash!

2. Put your bin on the curb and smile

On your designated pick-up day, you simply roll your compost bin out to the curb, and then smile, because you’re saving the planet! One of our Foodscraps360 Green Team Drivers will be by to pick it up, just like normal trash. They can also deliver anything you’ve ordered through the customer portal at that time - replacement bags, compost, etc.

3. Feed the Earth!

Your food scraps then get composted by our partners at the Town of Bethlehem Compost Facility and turned into one of the richest soil amendments for backyard gardeners, landscapers, and our agricultural industry - returning your food waste to the Earth! Foodscraps360 customers also receive ONE FREE BAG per growing season of this nutrient-rich Full-Circle Compost! And additional bags and other items can also be purchased by customers at a discount through their customer portal on our website, and delivered right to their door on their next scheduled pick-up day!

What’s Compostable?

Food Scraps aren’t trash!

Our Mission is to educate! Food Waste and Compostables make up about 40% of our landfills. When we put our food waste into the landfill, it rots and releases tons of methane gas into the atmosphere. The greenhouse gas effect is 35 times worse than that of C02.

Europe has been separating their food waste for over 30 years. But here in the U.S. our landfills are filling up fast. Right here at home, the Albany County Landfill is only a few years from being full. Together we have the power to change that, and we can start right now!

When food waste is composted, it breaks down naturally and allows for billions of nutrients and microorganisms to be returned back into the Earth. The result? COMPOST!

Compost is a soil amendment that is pure gold for landscapers, backyard farmers, and our entire agricultural industry. It creates an incredibly fertile, water-absorbing, and nutrient-dense soil ecosystem. It also eliminates the need for fertilizers and pesticides, which pollute our groundwater, our communities and our animals.

Our goal is to make it easy for everyone in the Capital District to participate in the beautiful process of returning the rich nutrients and microorganisms from our foods back into the earth.
